Summary
At an Aug. 4 work session, the Clinton County election office told commissioners it will ask them Thursday to consider a $116,035.39 Election Integrity Grant and a $500 Department of State redesign grant to replace provisional ballot envelopes; staff said leftover funds from the larger grant could cover the county's $250 share.

Clinton County election staff told commissioners at an Aug. 4 work session that they will ask the board on Thursday to consider two grants: a $116,035.39 Election Integrity Grant Program award and a $500 Department of State redesign grant for provisional-ballot envelopes.
The Election Integrity Grant, Maria (Voter Registration) said, would be used for “the payment of our poll workers, the printing of ballots, and secure preparation, transportation, storage, and management of our voting apparatus.” She described the provisional-envelope redesign as a small, targeted award the state is offering after it changed that envelope this month.
Maria said the county expects to spend about $750 to replace the envelopes and that the $500 redesign grant would leave roughly $250 to be covered by county funds; she said the county could use money from the Election Integrity Grant to cover that $250. When asked whether “destroy” meant shredding, Maria replied, “Shredding.”
On staffing, Maria said the county “could use a few more” poll workers in West Keating, Renova and South Renova but that the office was “in really good shape going into November.” She gave the election-office phone number: (570) 893-4019 for people interested in working as poll workers.
The commissioners had not decided the grants at the Aug. 4 work session; staff said the items will be on the Thursday meeting agenda for formal consideration.
