The Indigo Board of Directors authorized the president and CEO to place an order for one 60‑foot diesel articulated bus from New Flyer of America to replace a vehicle lost in an April 2024 incident.
Chief Operating Officer Aaron Bogle recommended the purchase, describing it as a single‑bus order to be combined with an existing 18‑bus order for the Blue Line to match specifications and leverage purchasing efficiencies. Bogle said the purchase price is $1,615,686.72, which includes a 15% contingency to cover potential tariffs; he said insurance proceeds will fund the acquisition and that no new organizational expenditure is required.
Bogle said the procurement will use the Washington State cooperative contract, a competitively procured contract the agency is leveraging to expedite the purchase. He emphasized the timing was critical because the quoted pricing expires Sept. 9 and recommended moving quickly to preserve the price and terms. A board member moved to approve the purchase, a second was recorded, and the motion carried without recorded opposition.
If approved, the order would be folded into procurement work already underway for the Blue Line purchase. Staff said administrative work on contracting remains but asked the board to authorize the president and CEO to execute the order to meet vendor pricing deadlines.
