Elizabethton board approves CTE exchange agreement and one-time stipends for non-state-covered employees

The board capped the authorization at a cost not to exceed $200,000 and specified that the funds will come from the school system's undesignated fund balance.
Mr. Van Huss said the stipend plan arose after the district reviewed its year-end close and identified employees excluded from the state program. He told the board the $200,000 figure includes a small cushion to cover the proposal's cost and that the district historically tries to include all employees —'to some level— when making such awards.
Separately, during the meeting Mr. Isaac read a recusal statement noting that his wife and daughter are employed by the school system and that he would recuse himself from voting on agenda item 9.b (he identified that agenda item by number when making the statement).
