County construction manager shows progress on new courthouse, modular offices; grand opening set for Nov. 8

Waller County staff presented construction progress photos and a schedule update for the new Waller County Courthouse and temporary modular offices during the Aug. 20 commissioners meeting.
Construction manager Dan (presenter) said several interior finishes are in place, including book-matched stone panels reclaimed from the old courthouse and a bronze county seal. He reported that four sets of the best-matched stone panels had been installed in the main chamber and described progress on coffers, woodwork and other finishes.
Dan said modular temporary offices being used during construction are nearly finished and that the county is holding off paving the adjacent parking area pending a later decision on whether to pave the full grass area. He told the court that the temporary modular complex will be vacated by Sept. 15 and that staff expect to move into the new courthouse in October. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10:00 a.m., Dan said.
Commissioners discussed minor finish items such as balcony rails, lighting, exterior landscaping and the structural design for glass to withstand high winds. No formal action was required; staff will continue finishing work and present final move-in logistics to the court.
