Resident asks council for help with deer damage and fence restrictions

Lisa said deer consistently eat flowers and plants in her yard and that she has stopped planting because the animals quickly consume new plantings. She said she contacted the state fish and wildlife office, which she said told her that if deer are destroying property they could be killed; Lisa said she would not take that course and asked the council instead for help.
The resident added she cannot put a fence up in her yard because she lives in the "estate" section of the city that has restrictions she described as prohibiting fencing. She asked the council to consider options because the deer issue prevents her from gardening and lowers her enjoyment of the property. The council thanked her for the comment and said staff would note the concern for follow-up. No formal action or referral was recorded on the public-comment item at the meeting.
