Items listed in the consent agenda included donations to Tanglewood Elementary from Casey's General Store, Chicken and Pickle and Walmart; donations to Sweeney and Cooper elementaries from the Derby Education Foundation; a donation to Derby Public Schools from Credit Union of America; a donation to Special Services from the Derby Haysville American Legion Post 408; and a PANDO Initiative memorandum of understanding.
Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program addendum — Passed, 7-0. The board approved an addendum to the district27s school nutrition program agreement to start a fresh fruit and vegetable program at Cooper, Oak Lawn, Sweeney and Wineteer beginning in September.
Facility condition assessment selection — Passed, 7-0. The board approved a contract for facility condition assessments covering the district27s 12 schools at a cost of $30,000.
Kansas Forest Service community grant — Passed, 7-0. The board approved acceptance of a Kansas Forest Service award of $31,298.59 to plant approximately 46 trees at Oak Lawn Elementary.
Facility-use regulations, fees and BOE policy — Tabled. After extended discussion and public input from staff, board members directed the item back to the facilities committee for revision and expanded representation; no final adoption vote occurred.
Cost-per-mile for busing (school trips) — Recommendation accepted; no roll-call vote recorded. Director of operations recommended maintaining the cost-per-mile charge for non-competitive trips at $2.35 per mile for the 2025-26 school year; the board did not record a formal roll-call vote during the meeting.
Adjournment — Passed, 7-0. The board voted to adjourn the meeting.
