Chesapeake council approves broad budget amendments tied to public-utilities rate adjustment

Chesapeake City Council on Aug. 12 adopted a package of budget amendments tied to a public-utilities rate adjustment that shifts operating and capital funding across multiple water and sewer projects.

The council voted 8-0 to approve amendments described in the staff report as requests A through L, including an increase of $1,674,847 in public-utilities operating revenue; a $3,928,153 reduction in transfers to capital projects; an increase of $1,500,000 in general expenses; and a $4,103,000 increase in capital outlay.
