Richland hearing examiner Gary McLean continued a preliminary plat application for the Villages at Clearwater Creek to the Hearing Examiner meeting on Sept. 8, saying the applicants need more time to finalize conditions with the Kennewick Irrigation District. The hearing was opened on Aug. 11 but the examiner noted the applicants had requested a continuance and staff agreed.
McLean told the room the item had been originally scheduled for July 14 and that, at that hearing, the only comments received were from staff and the applicant team, which asked for additional time to discuss proposed conditions with the irrigation district. He said the applicants had met with the Kennewick Irrigation District but still had “a couple of matters” to resolve before concluding the public hearing and requested continuation to Sept. 8; staff supported that request.
Because the matter had been publicly noticed, McLean opened the floor for public comment but reported there were no members of the public present who wished to speak on the application. He then formally continued the preliminary plat to the Sept. 8 hearing and closed discussion on the matter for the evening.
The continuance preserves the city’s opportunity to receive a full presentation of any final changes and conditions negotiated with the irrigation district before the hearing examiner issues a decision.
