Kaysville — The Kaysville City Council on Aug. 7 voted to adopt the 2025 certified tax rate and approve the fiscal year 2026 budget after a public hearing in which residents raised concerns about rising costs for seniors, roads and a proposed recreation/fitness center. City Manager Jason Christiansen told residents the package represents $1,795,000 in additional tax revenue and would raise the city’s tax rate to 0.001917 if approved.
The city manager said the tax increase would amount to about $12.80 per month for the average homeowner in Kaysville. He also said that when combined with changes in utility and service charges — including trash pickup, sewer rates administered by Central Davis Sewer District, and electric rates — an average household would see roughly $35 more per month across those charges.
Why it matters: Council members said the increases are intended to keep pace with rising costs for materials and core services, fund two new positions — an assistant city attorney and a police sergeant — and support a planned partnership with Davis School District to build a fitness center at Caswell Junior High that the city would also use as a recreation facility.
