City of Sandpoint votes to recommend elimination of its area of city impact to Bonner County

The Sandpoint City Council voted Aug. 6 to recommend that Bonner County eliminate the city’s area of city impact, the planning boundary counties and cities use to coordinate growth beyond municipal limits. Planning Director Jason Welker told the council the decision followed direction received from Bonner County and reflected recent changes to state law that altered city powers and duties in areas of impact.
