Sally Rose and other neighbors described traffic, parking and quality-of-life concerns and urged commissioners and staff to visit the site.
Others urged a more balanced view. Amanda Brake, Mount Pleasant Housing Commission section-8 coordinator, said smaller multifamily units can provide needed affordable alternatives for seniors and small households and said there is existing multifamily development nearby; she suggested the proposal represents five small buildings, not a large complex.
Action taken: The commission set a public hearing on July 14, 2025, to allow a full public record and deliberation. No rezoning decision was made at the meeting; the public hearing will be the forum for final deliberation and a potential vote.
