Arias also described the ABC's law enforcement unit, led by Chief Jonathan Whitley and three officers, that enforces North Carolina alcohol beverage control laws. He said the unit monitors about 240 licensed locations in Wayne County and the city of Goldsboro and partners with Goldsboro Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on investigations and enforcement. The unit also works with the North Carolina ABC Commission on violations and offers compliance training for club and bar owners.
Arias emphasized that ABC operations include both retail sales and efforts to fund rehabilitation programs in the community. He said the ABC office is open for residents to report complaints and provided a phone number for Chief Whitley: (919) 778-7731.
Council members thanked the presenters and encouraged residents to report suspected violations so enforcement officers could investigate.
No formal vote was required for the presentation; the council accepted the distribution and thanked the ABC representatives.
