Amanda Delaney was sworn in as Calvert County treasurer at the July 2025 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Kathy Smith, clerk of the court, administered the oath and Delaney repeated the official pledge required for the office.
Delaney told commissioners she is a certified public accountant and said she was "so excited to be here and to use this time in my life to work with the people in Calvert County and truly serve them." She said she looks forward to working in the treasurer’s office during the remainder of the appointed term and noted she intends to be on the campaign trail next year.
Commissioners publicly thanked Cynthia Harris, a deputy in the treasurer’s office, who served in an acting capacity during the vacancy and whose extended interim service the board recognized for continuity and commitment to public service.
Delaney’s appointment fills the county treasurer slot that became vacant when the prior treasurer resigned in May; the governor made the interim appointment that Delaney will complete until the next election, per county procedure.
