The Beaver County Board of Commissioners on July 24 approved two proclamations, reappointed and appointed members to the Beaver County Agricultural Land Preservation Board, endorsed two resolutions reviewed by the county solicitor and approved routine minutes, bills and a personnel report.
The board proclaimed July events including a ceremony commemorating the seventh annual revival convention of the Holiness Church and Christ's Deliverance Center in Newton County, and issued a proclamation congratulating the Riverside High School baseball team for winning the 2025 PIAA Class 3A state championship, noting the team finished 21-2 and that a player named Zach pitched 36 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball during the season and playoffs.
On personnel and administrative business, the board moved to approve meeting minutes from July 10, 2025, and the July 16 work session minutes, approve the current bills for payment, and accept the personnel report as presented. The motion to approve the July 10 minutes carried with one abstention; other routine motions were approved by voice vote and recorded as carried.
The board reappointed Jeff Flute (listed in the record as a farmer) and Faram Lawner (listed in the record as a farmer) to three-year terms on the Beaver County Agricultural Land Preservation Board, with terms commencing August 17, 2025 and expiring August 16, 2028. The board appointed Mike Karen (listed in the record with an address on Eden Road) to fill the remainder of a two-year term beginning August 17, 2025 and expiring August 14, 2027. The board also reappointed Jeff Lee as chairman and Farrah Weltner as vice chairwoman of the Beaver County Agricultural Land Preservation Board to one-year terms running August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2026.
The solicitor told the board that resolutions numbered 072425-01 and 072425-69 had been reviewed by the law department and recommended their approval; the commissioners moved to approve those resolutions as presented and the motions carried.
There were no public comments on agenda items and no non-agenda public comments at the meeting. The board announced its next public meeting will be Aug. 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Public Meeting Room and then adjourned.
