Ossipee Selectboard approves VotingWorks machine, land-use taxes, appointments and routine warrants

The Ossipee Town Selectboard approved a slate of routine administrative items, including purchase of a VotingWorks voting machine, several land-use-change tax releases and a deputy forest fire warden appointment.
Town Clerk Kelly presented a demonstration of the VotingWorks ballot-marking device and recommended replacement of the town's older unsupported machines. Councilors voted to approve the purchase and first-year maintenance costs as presented. The clerk reported a purchase price of $7,500 and annual maintenance of $500; she said the State of New Hampshire offers a grant of $3,500 that she will attempt to recover to offset the cost. A Selectboard member moved to approve the $8,000 first-year cost as presented; the motion passed with board members voting "Aye."
The board approved a series of land-use-change tax (LUCT) receipts covering parcels on and off Lake House Lane and other locations. Specific amounts announced during the meeting included:
- Map 103, Lot 24, Sub 1: $12,000 - Map 49, Lot 3, Sub 5 (Lake House Lane): $12,000 - Map 49, Lot 3, Sub 1: $11,000 - Map 49, Lot 3, Sub 3: $11,000 - Map 49, Lot 3, Sub 6: $11,000
The Selectboard approved a deputy forest fire warden appointment requested by Chief Adam Riley: Josh Sandahai of Freedom was appointed. The board also approved a water-shore warrant for Map 91, Lot 52 in the amount of $40 and accepted a cemetery deed for Lot 422, Plots A and B in Chickville Cemetery. Notices of intent to excavate were approved for Map 231, Lot 1 (Archer's Pond Road; estimated 1,500 cubic yards of sand) and Map 277, Lot 4 (Brown's Ridge; estimated 720 cubic yards of gravel); the clerk said taxes on those parcels are paid. The board approved an application for reimbursement to towns and cities for natural area properties (Heath Pond, Little Pine River State Forest, Lord Pine State Forest, Osmo Lake Natural Area, Pine River State Forest) and several abatements, including a clerical abatement for Map 29, Lot 1 in the amount cited in the file and an abatement for Map 2203, Lot 1 (Chipporah Forestlands) for $520.
The Selectboard also accepted minutes from the Planning Board meeting of June 3 and the Selectmen's meeting of June 16.
Ending Board members completed the consent agenda with unanimous voice votes and moved to other business and public-comment items.
