4-H leaders brief commissioners on awards, training and invite public to open house

During the public comment period, two 4-H representatives addressed the board. Loretta Compton, outgoing president of the Wakulla 4-H Future Leaders and outgoing vice president of the county 4-H council, described her participation as a voting delegate at the Florida 4-H State Council and said she placed first at the state level in a money-management presentation at the University of Florida.
Karen Zach, a 4-H volunteer and advisory board member, invited the public to an open house on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wakulla County Extension Office, 84 Cedar Avenue. Zach said the event would include music, food trucks, garden tours, information on cottage food and master-gardener classes, and registration assistance from the supervisor of elections.
Both speakers thanked the commissioners for their time and emphasized the educational and leadership opportunities 4-H provides to local youth.
