District outlines feasibility study timeline; board asked to channel community questions and expects property-use options after study

April, a district staff member, briefed the board on the facilities feasibility study timeline and implementation plan, saying the district aims to complete the project within eight months and present periodic updates.
April said the leadership team established for the study includes principals and district staff and that on Sept. 16 the team would start unpacking the scope of work and the firm's data needs. She told the board the district will provide regular updates and suggested November, February and May as reporting points while inviting board members to request more frequent briefings.
When board members raised constituent questions about properties and potential sales, April said the study is exploratory and not a directive to sell property. "We are undertaking a feasibility study, and we will know more about options as we complete this study," she said. April and other staff pledged to communicate updates to stakeholders and to involve school improvement teams and principals so principals' communities can engage with the process.
Board members asked whether the firm conducting the study or leadership committee members could attend an October work session to gather suggestions about scope items. April said that could be arranged at the board's request and that a board workshop is already planned as part of the 90'day facility needs assessment.
Board members also requested a public message to constituents: "We have no plans to sell any property" until the study is complete. April and other staff said they would share regular updates and specified that the district would consider options and next steps only after completing the study and receiving community input.
April said the district will monitor school improvement teams and encourage principals to carry the conversation to staff, parents and students so suggestions and questions can be gathered at the building level. "This will be a topic every month," she said.
