Walton County's Technical Review Committee on Aug. 20 conditionally approved a major development application to expand Weston Wood Ranch into a private supportive living facility, provided the applicant addresses outstanding environmental and planning reviewer comments.
Dewberry Engineers (application filed by Dewberry Engineering on behalf of Westwood Ranch, Inc.) sought approval for a private congregate care facility on about 37.89 acres at State Highway 20 West (parcel IDs in staff packet). Staff reported most outstanding comments were labeling and landscape table items; environmental reviewers requested additional landscape and vegetative community descriptions. The applicant submitted a letter requesting permission to impact a secondary wetland buffer to achieve positive pond discharge elevation for drainage outfall; staff said those details were included in the resubmittal made the day before the meeting.
Rudy Mall, the engineer of record, said most comments were straightforward and that he had confidence the outstanding items would be addressed; he agreed to respond to a fire comment about sprinklers and access. Staff recommended conditional approval pending successful resubmittal; the committee voted to advance the project to Planning Commission upon final review and signoff of outstanding items.
