The Town of Hubbardston senior center approved the May 21 minutes and accepted a financial report at its July 2, 2025 meeting.
Secretary Mel presented account totals and grant receipts, saying the center had $2,844.48 in supplies, $1,448.51 in services, $11,875.81 in the gift account and $8,879.51 in an aging formula grant as of the meeting. Mel also noted a separate art-related fund balance of $793.93 and said organizers should retain all receipts for cultural council and community fund reporting.
The group discussed income from an art show held in the prior fiscal year and how proceeds were recorded. Mel said the art show generated roughly $600 in sales that were applied to last fiscal year. Board members asked whether that amount was included in the current fund totals; Mel said the $793.93 figure “includes everything” as presented to the membership.
Board members noted the town had increased the senior center’s starting budget for several line items from the prior year; Mel and director Claudia said they were continuing to reconcile center accounts with the town’s records and had not yet completed that reconciliation.
Members agreed to preserve receipts tied to the center’s formula grant and to track donations and sales proceeds separately for reporting. The meeting record shows the secretary’s report was accepted on a motion by Sue and a second from Flo; the motion passed unanimously. A motion to accept the financial report was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote later in the meeting.
Ending: Members also identified outreach and fundraising follow-ups, including documenting grant receipts for the cultural council and continuing to track art-show and gift-account proceeds ahead of planned programs.
