Beauregard Parish School Board names principal, teachers and support employees of the year

At its regular meeting the Beauregard Parish School Board honored the 2025–26 Principal of the Year, school-level Teachers of the Year and outstanding support employees from elementary, middle and high schools.
The Beauregard Parish School Board recognized the district’s principal, teachers and school support employees of the year during its regular meeting.
The board honored Mr. Sammy Smith as the 2025–26 Beauregard Parish Principal of the Year. According to the board’s announcement, Smith has 14 years in education, served three of those years as principal of DeRidder High School and has held roles as teacher and coach. The board noted his local leadership roles, including service with the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the Louisiana Association of Principals.
The board also named three teachers of the year at the district level. East Beauregard Elementary’s Teacher of the Year is Rebecca Snead; her principal, Mark Weldon, cited her work in special education, her role as STEM honor society sponsor and her leadership in launching two elementary robotics teams that placed in state competition. Maryville Middle School’s Teacher of the Year is Danielle Doyle; principal Cara Wynn said Doyle has quickly become a leading English language arts teacher and often takes on spirited school dress-up activities. Maryville High School’s Teacher of the Year is Paige Roberson; principal Kara Winn described Roberson as a long-serving business teacher and a catalyst for revitalizing student life, noting her extracurricular sponsorships and leadership.
The board recognized outstanding school support employees at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Tammy Reeves was named the elementary outstanding support employee; her principal described her as a multifunctional registrar and reliable school presence. Susanna Tamez received the middle-school support award, honored for her custodial work and steady presence at DeRidder Junior High School. Tian Pickering was recognized as the high-school support employee of the year and was described as a versatile staff member who also runs the school’s youth athletic association and manages concessions in support of athletics.
Board members congratulated the honorees and said the recognitions reflect district values around student support and community service. Copies of personnel bios and detailed award citations were presented at the meeting.
