Commission recommends abandonment of unused 20‑foot irrigation easement on Conrad Place

The Churchill County Planning Commission on Aug. 13 recommended the Board of County Commissioners approve abandonment of an unused 20‑foot irrigation easement on Parcel 4 of a parcel map recorded Jan. 19, 2018 (AE25‑3).
Dean Patterson, Public Works and Planning, said the easement had been intended as a private irrigation easement but the record mistakenly omitted the private designation for one segment. The applicant, Gary Lacka (trustee of the Danny 1987 trust), requested abandonment because revised development plans no longer require the easement. Patterson said notice was provided to affected landowners and no comments were received; the public‑works director and county surveyor reviewed and approved the proposal with text modifications still being finalized.
Commissioner Tammy Edgemont moved that the findings in CCC 16.08.050.4.h had been met and recommended that the Board of County Commissioners approve abandonment of the 20‑foot irrigation easement with changes required by the county surveyor. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The planning commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners; staff noted the abandonment can proceed only if the board determines the public will not be materially injured by the change.
