Douglas County accepts public administrator reports; official details inventories, case counts and safeguards

The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday unanimously accepted the Public Administrator's quarterly reports after Public Administrator Wendy Sharp and Community Services Director Brooke Ady described case counts, inventory procedures and security measures.

Sharp, who said she started in the position May 27, told commissioners the office closed 17 cases between the first and second quarters of 2025. She reported 69 active estate cases at March 31 and 54 active cases at June 30 and said many smaller estates can be completed using affidavits of entitlement.

The affidavit process applies to estates valued at $25,000 or less, Sharp said. She described other thresholds discussed in the presentation: set-aside estates between $25,000 and $100,000, summary administration between $100,000 and $300,000 and general administration for estates above $300,000.
