City approves change order and progress payments for Guymon Lagoon rehabilitation project

Guymon city officials approved a 25-day change order to the Guymon Lagoon Rehabilitation Project and authorized two contractor pay applications July 8.
City staff presented Change Order No. 1, which extends the contract’s substantial completion date by 25 days. Staff said the extension was requested after the contractor encountered wet conditions while constructing a pond and that the additional time was reasonable for completion.
The council also approved two contractor pay applications to Superior Services and Supply LLC: Payment No. 4 for $123,044.39 and Payment No. 5 for $735,209.11. Staff said work is ongoing; council was told work on the storage lagoons and associated concrete work was in progress and that payments were in line with the project schedule.
The motions carried on unanimous council votes recorded as five ayes. A city staff member noted some of the project payments will be reflected in TIF 2 project accounting at a subsequent meeting.
The council’s approvals allow the contractor to continue work toward final completion; staff will process the payments and continue project oversight and inspection.
