Council approves annual ODOT transit contract and state revolving-fund application for 2026 operating funds

The City Council approved two transit-related items July 8: the Section 53-11 operating contract for fiscal year 2026 with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Oklahoma Public Transit Revolving Fund application for 2026 operating funds.
Staff said the funds are used to offset fares and keep transit pricing low, and to pay for training and ADA compliance measures that help elderly riders and others with mobility needs. Council members asked whether drivers had previously attended training; staff confirmed driver training has been provided in the past and that training plans will continue.
Both motions passed unanimously with five ayes.
Staff indicated these are routine annual funding items required for continued operation of the city transit service and that grant and contract documentation was included in the agenda packet.
