Council approves $112,000 agreement for Nash Soccer Complex Phase 2 engineering and site work

The City Council approved July 8 a $112,000 proposal with Kimberly Horn for Phase 2 of the Nash Soccer Complex.
Staff said Phase 1 included construction of three fields and fencing; staff reported a Department of Tourism grant of approximately $550,000 remains available and will be used to construct parking on the northeast corner of the facility, add bleachers, sunshades and a walking path around the complex. The $112,000 agreement covers design and engineering for those Phase 2 items, staff said.
Council members asked whether sidewalks would encircle the playground and whether turf options could replace existing live grass. Staff answered the design shown was preliminary and said they would look into extending the sidewalk and consider addressing turf/irrigation issues.
The motion to approve the Kimberly Horn Nash Soccer Complex Phase 2 proposal carried on a unanimous vote of five ayes.
