The Woods County Economic Development Committee approved a projected fiscal-year 2526 budget during its meeting, voting to adopt the plan as presented.
Committee members debated budget assumptions for the coming year, with staff noting uncertainty over one major contributor labeled “DreamWorks” and adjusting expected revenue downward to avoid overstatement. Staff also discussed a modest increase in routine operating costs such as website hosting and service fees, and reduced a bank-contribution line to reflect conservative revenue expectations.
Committee staff explained the authority and timing around pledged funding: some pledges are kept in an industrial development authority account to accrue interest and are moved twice yearly. The committee was told the fiscal year runs Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, requiring some timing flexibility for transfers and invoicing.
A motion to approve the FY 2526 budget was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The committee also approved routine financial items earlier in the meeting, including minutes from the June 10, 2025 meeting and financial statements through Aug. 31, 2025.
The adopted budget incorporates the discussed conservative revenue assumptions and an allowance for a $550 annual increase in one website-hosting line (approved separately), and staff said they will monitor revenues and return to the committee as needed.
