Lyon County commissioners authorize Dayton Depot rebuild with insurer funds; historic society pledges materials and costs

The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 21 to proceed with rebuilding the historic Dayton Depot using the insurance settlement and a awarded contractor, after a presentation from the Dayton Historical Society and county staff.
“Based on the current scope of work in the amount of $437,000 with Bates Construction,” County Counsel Josh Foley told the board, “there will be no additional matching funds required by the county other than our $25,000 deductible, which we've previously paid.” Foley said the insurer’s figure reflected recent contractor pricing and that the county could add upgrades at the board’s direction if it chose to pay additional…
