Nevada Extension analysis: Lyon County housing stock, prices outstrip local incomes, presenters say

University of Nevada, Reno Extension economists presented a county-level housing assessment Tuesday that showed home values and rents in Lyon County are substantially higher than what many local households can afford. The presentation, by Joe Ladecky and Roy DeSueit of the Nevada Economic Assessment Project (NEAP), was delivered to the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners during the board’s Aug. 21 meeting.
The consultants said the analysis was funded primarily by Nevada Rural Housing and is intended as a baseline data set, not a policy prescription. “This analysis was primarily funded by our partners at Nevada Rural Housing,” Joe Ladecky said. He and Roy DeSueit reviewed supply, demand, vacancy, permit and affordability measures for Lyon County and selected communities.
