FARRANT — The Farrant City Council took several formal votes during its regular meeting on Aug. 6, adopting an ordinance on unsanctioned camping, reaffirming its existing fee for outside culinary water connections and ratifying equipment and signage purchases.
The council adopted Ordinance 2025-3, prohibiting unsanctioned camping on city property. The ordinance was presented to the council as consistent with cited Utah statutes and passed after a roll-call vote.
Council members ratified the purchase of a cemetery lawn mower after staff explained the existing mower frame split. The council also approved the purchase of standardized road-address signs and asked staff to return with cost details for other nonroad signage.
On a contested procedural item involving water connections outside city limits, the council voted to retain the 2006 fee structure requiring two water shares plus $2,500 for culinary-only connections outside the city. Council members discussed standardizing how the city charges for outside connections and the relationship with the Special Service District review process.
The council accepted the list of potential 2026 projects to forward to the special service district/CIB process and accepted proposed revisions to the cemetery ordinance for placement on a future agenda for formal ordinance action.
Motions passed by roll-call were recorded as carried by the council. Specific motions and outcomes are summarized in the actions array for this meeting.
