Cochise County Jail District approves consent agenda; supervisors request sheriff correspondence be shared immediately

The Cochise County Jail District approved consent-agenda items 1 and 2 in a 3-0 vote Tuesday, July 22, and supervisors requested that any correspondence from the sheriff’s office and the county attorney related to the proposed jail tax be shared with the board immediately.

At the meeting in the Supervisor’s Hearing Room, Supervisor Crossby (District 1), Supervisor Gomez (District 2) and Supervisor Antinori (District 3) were present in person. A supervisor moved to approve consent-agenda items 1 and 2; another supervisor seconded, and the motion carried 3 to 0.

Supervisor Gomez asked whether the sheriff had sent any materials supporting work on the jail tax. The deputy county administrator responded, “We received his letter of support yesterday to go into the publicity pamphlet.” Gomez then requested broader, prompt distribution of correspondence, saying, “I would just like to request that anything that comes from the sheriff's office, that we, the board of supervisors, immediately get it upon you all receiving it. And that also include includes the county attorney's office. Anything you receive from the sheriff on the jail tax, and I'd like to broaden that to even the animal shelters that or any issue of that, that we get that correspondence immediately upon you guys getting it.”

The deputy county administrator acknowledged the request with, “Understood.”

The meeting adjourned and the board noted the next meeting will be the regular Cochise County Board of Supervisors meeting.
