Assembly hears ethics board annual report; officers say disclosure processing has sped up

The Assembly Rules Committee on Sept. 11 received the Anchorage Municipal Ethics Board's annual report and an update from municipal ethics staff on process improvements and common questions about conflicts of interest.
Paul Rossi, municipal ethics officer, told the committee the office and board have improved processing of notices of intent to respond to public solicitations, frequently returning advice to employees the same day. “A lot of times these are very rarely to involve any ethical issues,” Rossi said, describing the quicker turnaround as intended to avoid delaying contracting deadlines.
