The Board approved a staff request on Sept. 8 to amend a state grant for West Campus improvements so leftover funds can be reallocated to restroom renovations and new pickleball-court amenities.
County staff said the West Campus project was substantially complete and that the amendment simply allows unused grant dollars to be applied to additional restroom and amenity work. "This is the amendment with the state to get that in language that says go ahead and do it. Basically, it's all it is," a county staff member said during the meeting.
Commissioner motion and a second passed unanimously with no recorded opposition. Staff told the board the design services contract had already been approved and that the amendment will allow the county to finish the additional work without increasing the total project cost to taxpayers.
The board asked staff to follow procurement rules and to notify the Parks and Recreation Board and Facilities Committee about the contract timeline.
