Board concludes annual evaluation: County administrator receives favorable review and anniversary step increase

The Clay County Board of Commissioners completed an annual evaluation of County Administrator Steve Larson during a closed session on Aug. 12 and publicly reported that Larson received a positive evaluation.
The board reconvened in open session and announced that, on behalf of the board, the administrator "passed with flying colors" and exceeded expectations in his performance review. Commissioners moved to approve an anniversary step adjustment for Larson; the motion passed by voice vote and commissioners said the adjustment is included in the preliminary administrative budget materials the county is using for planning.
Chair and commissioners thanked Larson for his leadership and the county's department directors; Larson thanked the board and said he appreciates the team.
The motion implementing the step increase was presented during open session following a closed-session review. Commissioners noted that one board member participated virtually during the review due to a medical appointment and that board consensus was unanimous.
