Committee reports furniture, instruments and library books redistributed from county campus; schools and nonprofits received most items

Committee members reported extensive redistribution of campus furnishings and equipment: school districts and local organizations have taken large items, the county retained some pieces, and a foundation and churches have collected items important to them. A staff member observed that "if you go through the buildings now, they're a lot emptier than they were before," and that "almost all the musical instruments are gone."
Members identified remaining items that may require decisions at future meetings, including a piano that remains on site and books in the library. Trish said Pine Valley will walk through the kitchen to identify items they want. Several members noted that some of the remaining tables are not foldable, which could limit reuse options.
The committee also discussed outreach to potential takers: staff reported reaching out to churches and surrounding districts and that some organizations have yet to inspect available items. One committee member said they had contacted the small church now at Rockridge School about library books and furniture and were waiting to hear back.
Separately, committee members asked staff to prepare future agenda items to discuss property boundaries, demolition proposals and utility separations. A committee member noted the tunnels under the campus and asked staff to inventory the tunnels'size, depth and contents before winter to inform demolition planning. Public works handoff of courthouse and jail responsibilities was noted as a forthcoming administrative change, and members said the ad hoc campus committee will continue to focus on the campus property until formal handoff.
The committee set its next meeting for Sept. 24 at 5:00 PM and adjourned after a motion by Manning and a second by Scoot, carried by voice vote.
