Board approves curriculum, rental fees, device replacements and personnel reports; several routine items passed unanimously

- Facility rental rates: Trustees approved a revised district rental-fee schedule for elementary and high-school facilities that changes summer rates and adopts an hourly structure for some fields. Staff said the changes are intended to narrow the gap between fees collected and facility costs and to simplify field pricing.
- Purchase of student and staff device replacements: The board approved the district's annual device-replacement purchase (about 1,200 Chromebooks and roughly 236 Windows devices in the replacement cycle). Trustee Hayes moved and Trustee Walsh seconded the motion; trustees voted unanimously.
- Personnel reports (elementary and high school): The board approved certified and classified personnel reports for elementary and high school staffing. Trustees voted unanimously on both motions (movers and seconders were recorded for each motion during the meeting). Board staff reported vacancies primarily in specialty certified roles, paraeducator positions and custodial posts and said current hiring is stronger than in recent years.
- Ratified two-year agreement with professional specialists: The board approved a two-year agreement for a small specialist bargaining group, aligning raises with district-wide negotiated increases and modestly increasing the district insurance contribution. Trustee Davy moved and Trustee Hayes seconded the motion; trustees approved it unanimously.
- Student handbooks (elementary and secondary): The board approved updates to student handbook language required by recent state law and policy changes (including opt-out/opt-in language for certain instructional topics and updated FERPA-related language). Motions to approve were moved and seconded and carried unanimously.
- MTSBA voting docket: The board approved the district's responses to the Montana School Boards Association (MTSBA) annual-docket items (principles and bylaws confirmations and related items). The board voted to approve the recommended positions unanimously.
Other routine items approved earlier in the meeting included agenda approval and minutes from the July 15 regular meeting; consent-agenda motions for elementary and high-school routine items also passed without recorded dissent.
