Nate (staff member) told the council the city’s sales tax revenue had slowed compared with last year, and that museum and band shell change orders had used part of the available revenue. He recommended budgeting the parks master plan in 2026 rather than incurring an unbudgeted expense in 2025. "My motion is to reject the work order of 20 20 26. Motion to reject work order and revisit 2026," Nate said; a council member seconded the motion and members voted in favor.
Council members asked whether consultant fees would increase if the work order were delayed. Staff said they had no indication the fee would be materially different but that committee members could expect to revisit budgeting in the next calendar year. The motion carried on voice vote.
No additional direction to staff was recorded beyond returning the item for consideration in 2026.
