THECB staff gives five-year monitoring update for newly approved doctoral and professional programs

Elizabeth Mayer, assistant commissioner for academic and health affairs, briefed the committee on the coordinating board's monitoring of newly approved doctoral and professional degree programs. Mayer said the monitoring requirement is set out in the Administrative Code, chapter 2, section 2.182, and that institutions submit progress reports in years 1, 3 and 5 following program implementation.
Mayer said the monitoring update provides an overview of programs currently within the five-year monitoring period and that each section of the report includes tables summarizing projected and actual enrollment, program costs, numbers of students advancing to candidacy or graduating, and whether initial faculty hiring and resource commitments have been fulfilled.
