Learning Technology Advisory Committee reports OER, GenAI course and adapting-to-innovation playbook

The Learning Technology Advisory Committee reported on digital learning initiatives, open educational resources (OER) work, a new GenAI course for educators, and an adapting-to-innovation playbook and hub to support institutional digital transformation.
Patrick Plush, executive director of digital learning at the University of North Texas and chair of the Learning Technology Advisory Committee, presented the committee's annual report to the THECB committee on July 23, 2025. Plush said the committee has held hybrid meetings, supported institutional planning for distance education, and advanced several deliverables intended to sustain statewide progress in digital learning.
Plush described three key deliverables the committee is preparing: an "adapting to innovation" playbook; a free open course titled "GenAI strategies for college and university educators" to be made available through OER Texas; and an adapting-to-innovation hub in OER Texas that will host research, tools, case studies and connections. Plush said these resources are intended to help institutions "move quickly, think boldly, and lead change in ways that truly benefit students."
