The Jamestown City Council on Monday approved six finance resolutions, several special-event permits and authorized travel for police personnel to attend a state public-safety symposium.
Council minutes show the council approved a block-party permit for Stowe Street on Aug. 30 (amended to end at 7:30 p.m.), a Hallock Street block party on Aug. 31, a special Back-to-School Field Day at Jackson Taylor Park on Aug. 23 and the Dan Daniel Feather Memorial 5K on Aug. 31. City staff said the Stowe Street event time was amended from 11 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as it was last year.
On personnel and training, the council approved a finance resolution authorizing deputy chief Scott Forrester, Cindy Robinson, Ali Cotta and one additional officer to attend the State Division of Criminal Justice public-safety symposium; staff said the symposium costs will be paid for by the State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
Council members also reported routine capital and maintenance updates: bids for pipe replacement came in below initial estimates and will be paid from capital funds; the city is pursuing purchase of a Harrison Street property for a fueling depot and fire training facilities; and maintenance-garage ventilation requires upgrades to improve diesel-fume exhaust for employee safety.
Two agenda items (identified in committee as items 4 and 5) were tabled to allow additional information and planning commission feedback before the full-session vote.
Ending: Council members said they would revisit the tabled items after planning commission comment and did not take separate roll-call votes on the individual financing details during the presentation portion.
