Another bidder's net price was $151,516 after accounting for trades. County staff said the sheriff's fleet replacement was budgeted at $150,000 for the purchase group and that the county recently received an insurance reimbursement of $16,903.62 (member deductible applied) from WARM for a sheriff's vehicle that was declared a total loss; that reimbursement has been returned to the county general fund.
Sheriff Stewart told the board both bidders met specifications and that Chevrolet equipment would allow reuse of some existing in-vehicle equipment (cages and other fixtures), reducing installation costs. The sheriff said the Chevrolets offered a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 36 months bumper-to-bumper coverage; warranty details for alternate makes were not fully listed in the bid packet.
Commissioners voted to accept Denny Menholt's bid and to proceed with purchase. Staff and the sheriff's office will finalize procurement paperwork and arrange trade-ins and disposition of the totaled vehicle (which insurance did not retain).
