Spring City Council approves Gilbert and Stewart as auditor for annual audit

On Tuesday, Aug. 19 the Spring City Council voted unanimously to approve an engagement agreement with the audit firm Gilbert and Stewart to perform the city's annual financial audit.
Council members discussed that the city used the same auditing firm previously and that the engagement letter for the year was included with meeting materials. One participant stated, “It was $10,000,” when asked about last year’s payment. Council members also observed that the audit fee has risen modestly over several years — a member said the fee had been $9,000 when they first started four years earlier.
A motion to approve the Gilbert and Stewart audit agreement was made and seconded; Ken Croke seconded the motion. The roll call recorded Randy Strait, Marty McCain, Ken Croke, Courtney Chen and Paul Penrod voting yes. The motion passed unanimously.
The council did not specify the city account or budget line that will cover the audit fee during the meeting; the engagement letter was described as attached and reviewed. The council then adjourned the session.
