Board hears plea to fix main baseball field; officials preview IT upgrades and high-school summer work

"They have significantly lost home team advantage for over the last 4 or 5 years ... that is our only baseball field. It is, I think, very imperative for us board directors to find some funds or reasons to fix this field for this team," Mrs. Turner said during the meeting.
Mrs. Turner said she has asked when the facilities committee will meet and urged the board to move forward to identify needs and funding for improvements. The transcript records her noting booster-group outreach and a request that the district pursue upgrades to make the field "state of the art." No formal motion or funding commitment was recorded at the meeting.
IT committee and student-information upgrades
Separately, board members noted an IT committee meeting scheduled for the following week to discuss expanded uses of the district’s student information system and other technology projects. The district’s director of technology, Justin Kreke, told the board the parent portal is being used to collect handbook acknowledgements electronically and that the district has invested in infrastructure upgrades.
"We used to have them sign a piece of paper, but now we're using the parent portal," Justin Kreke said, adding that the new process lets staff run a roster to verify acknowledgements.
High school summer projects
Board members also described several summer projects at the high school: paving and curb work on Noble Road, sidewalk repairs, and work on bleachers. One board member commended Dr. Schaefer and district administration for the summer work and said the facilities improvements should improve building response times and operations when the school year begins.
What's next
No formal board action on the baseball field or capital funding was recorded; Mrs. Turner requested that the facilities committee address the issue. The IT committee meeting was set for a week after the board meeting to continue planning for student-information and infrastructure work.
