Board approves 16-foot windbreak fence at 603 Skyline Drive with building-permit condition

The City of Cody Planning and Zoning and Adjustment Board approved a fence-height waiver Thursday permitting three staggered cedar windbreak structures up to 16 feet tall at 603 Skyline Drive.
Staff said the structures will be cedar, mounted on steel pipe driven at least 4 feet into the ground, each about 8 feet long and 13 feet tall with three feet of open space at the bottom to accommodate landscaping. Staff recommended approval with the condition that the applicant obtain the applicable building permit before construction.
Staff reported one letter of no objection from a nearby property owner; other mailed notices were returned. During discussion a board member described the request as a “no brainer” given local wind conditions.
A motion to approve the waiver as detailed in the staff report, including the building-permit condition, was moved, seconded and approved. The chair announced the motion carried and the waiver was approved.
