Fort Bend County approves veterans grant, adopts redistricting rules, sets election sites and extends UH transit stops

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court on Aug. 12 accepted a $50,000 grant from the Texas Veterans Commission to provide general assistance to local veterans, adopted criteria and guidelines for the 2025 redistricting process, finalized a new location for foreclosure and tax sales effective Dec. 2, approved early voting locations for the Nov. 4 special and joint election, issued a letter of support for Applied Optoelectronics’ bid for a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant, authorized an additional $48,000 through the Texas anti-gang program for the district attorney’s office (bringing that program total to $173,000), and added six stops to the University of Houston route with service extended through July 2026, Fort Bend County Judge KP Georgi said.

The actions aim to expand veteran services, clarify the county’s redistricting process, improve voter access and expand transit connections for students and workers. "Every decision we make is about improving lives in Fort Bend County," Georgi said in a recorded recap of the meeting.
