Roseville outlines fall events lineup; attendance has risen above 64,000

City recreation staff previewed the Parks and Recreation Department's fall and holiday events at the commission's August meeting, saying overall event attendance has risen in recent years and listing dates and highlights for several seasonal programs.

"We currently offer over 60 annual City of Roseville events," Recreation Coordinator Kathleen Beatty said, noting total attendance rose from just under 54,000 three years ago to more than 64,000 last year. She said staff expects attendance to rise again in the current year.

Beatty and Recreation Supervisor Will Neville highlighted several fall offerings: Scarecrows on the Square, a display and contest running at Vernon Street Town Square from Sept. 19 through Sept. 26 with voting and awards; Fall Family Fest with 50-plus vendors, a big truck zone and stage performances; and a combined Trunk-or-Treat and Friday Flicks event at Mahaney Fitness Center, where families will gather for decorated trunks and an indoor screening of Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Staff also announced a veterans recognition event at the Roseville Civic Center in November that will include a wall of honor and a donation drive for Blue Star Moms. The Maidu Community Center and Maidu Museum and Historic Site will host craft fairs on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with roughly 120 local vendors.

Beatty said the department is introducing additional seasonal experiences and that staff is seeking partners and sponsors; sponsorship information is available at www.roseville.ca.us/events. The commission did not act on the informational presentation.
