Community groups offer 10 Commandments poster donation to New Caney ISD; district asked for classroom counts

Representatives from Love Hills Youth, the Liberty Library Project and The Woodlands Republican Women told the New Caney ISD Board of Trustees on July 21 that they are coordinating a donation of printed 10 Commandments posters and requested a classroom count to arrange delivery.
The speaker, identified in the meeting as Ms. Smith, said the donation follows legislative guidance and that the group brought a sample poster for visual reference only. "This donation is provided at no cost to the district or taxpayers," Ms. Smith said, and added the posters would use the verbatim King James text and meet the font-size, visibility and durability standards the group said were outlined in "SB 10 passed by the 80 ninth legislative, Texas legislature." She said the statewide partnership led by Wall Builders and Million Voices has more than 5,000 posters in production and that the group expects enough posters to cover every classroom in New Caney ISD within a week or two.
Ms. Smith asked the district for a classroom count and said the group would coordinate delivery directly to the administration building when the posters arrive. She said the sample handed to the board was not the final compliant product and that the final posters would be donated at no cost. "If anyone here in the broader community would like to support this initiative, we're able to have 10 posters printed for $10 each," she said, adding donations could be made at lovehillsyouth.com.
Superintendent Calvert and trustees did not take formal action on the donation during the meeting; the request for a classroom count was presented during the public comment period. The board did not discuss or vote on placement or display protocols for donated materials during the open meeting.
The district previously directed public commenters to consult district complaint policies and noted that the board may not discuss items not on the posted agenda; staff follow-up or administrative review would be required before any donated materials are distributed to classrooms.
