Summary
An applicant for Guardian Transport and Security sought county approval for a Class A secure-transport license and two vehicle permits; staff said the application includes required inspections, insurance and fees and will be presented for the commissioners’ signatures at the next meeting.
County public-health and licensing staff presented an application from Guardian Transport and Security for a Class A secure-transport license and two vehicle permits for use in the county.
Staff said the applicant, David Hayes of Guardian Transport and Security, submitted a complete application including a class-A restraints authorization (allowing use of restraints), staffing lists, a service-area map covering 12 counties, current insurance, vehicle mechanical evaluations and inspection reports, and the required fees: $400 for the three-year agency license and $100 per vehicle (total $200) for one-year vehicle permits.
Hayes addressed the commissioners and described the vehicles as ex-state trooper Dodge Chargers and Ford Explorers fitted with secure partitions; he said the company maintains a 100% safety record and currently serves 12 counties, adding La Plata and soon Montezuma County among others. Staff said the board would sign the license and permits if it approves them at the next regular meeting and that the county clerk would finalize permit numbers after signatures.
No transport counts or projected call volumes were provided during the workshop; staff said they do not routinely receive follow-up transport statistics from applicants after permits are issued.
