The Lancaster City Planning Commission voted to approve the minutes of its regular meeting of June 16, 2025; the motion passed 5-0 with two members absent.
Hai Nguyen, assistant director for the Community Development Department, provided several staff updates. Nguyen said a mixed-use project at the southeast corner of L and 15th Streets — which the planning commission recommended for approval in April — was returned to the planning commission by the City Council after nearly 30 people spoke at the July 8 council meeting. The council cited concerns about building heights, water and labor agreements, among other items; the applicant will resubmit a revised project for staff review and eventual return to the commission.
Nguyen also previewed the commission’s August 18 meeting, saying it will be busy and will include the previously reviewed King Bar project, a 100% affordable housing project and the Westside annexation project and specific plan, which will be presented for the commission’s recommendation to the council. Nguyen asked commissioners to review materials in advance and confirm attendance so staff can plan presentations and public engagement.
The commission adjourned to its next regular meeting scheduled for August 18, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the city chambers.
