Passaic County commissioners present proclamations for coach, county engineer; commissioners approve consent agenda and personnel motions

The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners on July 15 presented proclamations recognizing Passaic County Technical Institute cross-country coach Shadi Taha and County Engineer Jonathan Perra as he departs for a municipal position. The board also approved routine minutes and multiple consent-agenda resolutions, accepted three late starters to the consent agenda and approved personnel and bills motions.
Proclamations
Commissioner Cruz presented a proclamation honoring Shadi Taha for being named the 2024–25 Passaic County Coach of the Year for cross country at Passaic County Technical Institute. Chairman John Curry and others spoke in praise of Taha’s work; Taha thanked his student athletes and PCTI, and said, “This award is a testament to their hard work, their dedication, and passion for the sport.”
The board also recognized Jonathan Perra for his service as county engineer since joining the county in 2010 and for serving as county engineer since June 1, 2018. The proclamation listed Perra’s professional credentials and project highlights presented at the meeting: the county’s work on roughly 246 miles of roadways, 121 bridges and 182 culverts; major bridge projects completed; and awards cited in the proclamation. Perra spoke briefly and thanked staff and family, saying it had been “an honor to work in the county.”
Consent agenda and personnel actions
- The board approved the minutes from the June 17, 2025 meeting after a roll-call vote. - A motion to add three late-starter resolutions (items 77–79) and an amendment to resolution 19 (reducing a clause from $4,000,000 to $2,000,000) to the consent agenda was approved by roll call. - The consent agenda covering resolutions N1–N17, N19–N34, N36–N73 and N75–N79 passed on a roll-call vote. - Commissioners approved routine personnel and bills motions; at the meeting staff and commissioners congratulated Tim Roden on his new role as Deputy County Administrator, which the chair indicated had been approved.
Why it matters: The proclamations recognize local achievements and leadership; the consent-agenda approvals advance county contracts, funding allocations and personnel changes.
