Commissioners set minimum bid process, table Westside Drive property sale

During the Oct. 21 meeting commissioners reviewed an ongoing proposal to dispose of a small county-owned strip of land near Hogan Creek at the end of Westside Drive.
County staff said two appraisals produced values of $17,000 and $14,000. Staff recommended the commissioners determine a minimum bid based on appraisals and the disposing agent’s knowledge. Commissioners agreed to set a working minimum bid of about $15,050 (the midpoint) and to include sale terms prohibiting permanent structures and commercial or industrial uses because much of the parcel lies in the regulated floodway, which limits development. Staff said the sale will require a detailed legal description, a public notice with terms and conditions, and a public hearing prior to acceptance of a winning bid.
The board moved to table final action until staff returns with a drafted notice, survey description and proposed sale language; the motion carried.
